First Surviving Septuplets Became Famous In 1997 And 18 Years Later The 7 Miracles Are Grown Up

In 1997, Kenny and Bobbi McCaughey of Iowa had one daughter named Mikayla when they decided it was time for her to have a sibling.

The couple turned to fertility drugs after struggling to conceive Mikayla. But when they went in for an ultrasound, doctors saw not one… not two… but seven little heartbeats! Yes, Bobbi was pregnant with septuplets.

Though no set of septuplets had ever survived before, Bobbi and Kenny decided not to reduce the number of embryos. Instead, they wanted to “leave it in God’s hands.”

On November 19th, 1997, Bobbi safely delivered all seven miracle babies — four boys and three girls — nine weeks early.

The babies became instant media stars, but by the time they turned 10 years old in 2007, the family was declining most requests for interviews.

That’s why the video below from “Oprah: Where Are They Now?” is such a treat. Viewers get a rare glimpse into the lives of the famous McCaughey Septuplets as they approach their 18th birthday as the world’s first set of adult septuplets.
