Tennis Superstar Serena Williams Welcomes Her First Child With Fiancé Alexis Ohanian At Age 35

Serena Williams is one of the most famous athletes in the world, with numerous Grand Slam titles and Olympic gold medals. Now, she can add one more line to her incredible résumé: mom!
A source close to Serena confirmed to Us Weekly that the 35-year-old tennis superstar gave birth to a baby girl on September 1, 2017, after being admitted to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Palm Beach, Florida.

This is the first baby for both Serena and her fiancé, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian
Serena and Alexis announced their engagement on December 29, 2016. The famous athlete told the good news to the world via a Reddit post written like a poem and featuring a cartoon of the couple at the top. The two had been dating since the fall of 2015, though they had kept their relationship mostly out of the spotlight.

On April 19, 2017, Serena revealed her pregnancy in a unique way: She posted a photo on her Snapchat story that showed off an obvious baby bump. The text “20 weeks” was written over the photo. Though it wasn’t an explicit announcement, speculation was soon rampant that Serena was expecting her first child. Sure enough, she confirmed the news later that evening.

Incredibly, the timing of Serena’s pregnancy reveal meant that she had been close to two-months pregnant when she won her 23rd Grand Slam singles title at the Australian Open on January 28, 2017. That pretty much solidifies her as one of the greatest athletes of all time in my book!
Serena’s baby enters the world during a year already filled with high-profile celebrity births. Beyoncé and Jay Z welcomed twins Sir and Rumi in June, while George and Amal Clooney gave birth to their own set of twins that same month.
